Here’s how you do it:

  • Visit cupcakeday.org to register for the main event
  • Scroll through this blog to find printable posters to advertise your bake sale, as well as recipe ideas
  • Get baking!
  • Be sure to take a few pictures of your cupcakes and sale set-up; you’ll need these later.
  • Sell your delectable treats and collect donations
  • Email education@anticruelty.org with any questions, and to set up an appointment to drop off your donations. Be sure to bring one of the flyers you used to advertise, a picture of your bake sale, a one-page reflection of your bake sale experience, your service learning tracking sheet, and of course your donations
  • Don’t forget, you can also earn the Baking Buddy through Chicago City of Learning. If you have a CCOL account, you can get a badge code to redeem for your efforts!

Cupcake Day 101

As you can probably tell, we are all pretty excited for our 4th annual Cupcake Day. I wanted to take a moment and remind you of the true meaning of this glorious holiday, helping Chicago’s homeless pets. The Anti-Cruelty Society is this city’s oldest and largest animal welfare organization (and the best in my opinion, but I may be a little biased).  Watching the love and devotion that my coworkers selflessly put forth on a daily basis makes me very proud to call the Society my home. On that note, let’s go over some Cupcake Day math:

Butch

Every $25 raised provides food, water and care for a cat for a day. The average stay for a kitty here at The Anti-Cruelty Society is about 30 days; it costs a lot to feed all of these hungry mouths!

Kacey

Every $50 raised helps vaccinate a shelter dog. Dogs leave here with all of their age appropriate vaccines including: Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella and a dewormer.

Baby

Every $100 raised will allow the Society to neuter one male kitty, did you know our veterinarians spayed/neutered over 8,000 pets in 2015!?

Negra

Every $225 raised will assist in a spay surgery for a female dog, that’s a lot of Cupcake sales, better get baking!

So have fun baking and remember any donation helps us fulfill our mission of building a community of caring by helping pets and educating people.

Cupcake Day is Coming!

No, you’re not imagining that sugary smell in the air. It is, in fact, the delicious aroma of cupcakes being baked and prepared for the return of Cupcake Day!

The Anti-Cruelty Society’s sweetest annual fundraiser is returning on October 17th, so now is the time to start planning the kinds of tasty treats that you want to make to support Chicago’s homeless animals. As always, we’re looking to recruit individual participants, groups, and business sponsors, so if you would like to participate in Cupcake Day (or know someone who would), now is the time!

Try not to spoil your appetite in the meantime.
