Everyone knows of our location on Grand and LaSalle, but have you visited our satellite location in the South Loop? If you haven’t, it is a must!
The Everyday Adoption Center is a state of the art shelter that’s located in the South Loop PetSmart. It’s completely staffed by The Anti-Cruelty Society so you know they know their stuff. The EAC even has a large doggy play group room where you can sit and watch the adoptable dogs frolic for as long as your heart desires. Most importantly, we adopt out an additional thousand animals a year at the Everyday Adoption Center!
More exciting news regarding EAC; Magnolia Bakery will be donating 50 cupcakes to sell for Cupcake Day! If you’ve never had Magnolia’s cupcakes before, like EAC, they are a must. Not only does Magnolia make delicious cupcakes, they are philanthropic to boot. They donate daily to local food pantries and international relief efforts. How sweet!
Now that I’ve added two things to your October bucket list: visiting EAC and tasting the glory that is Magnolia cupcakes, I’ll tell you how you can knock ‘um both out at once. Cupcake day is October 17th, stop by the Everyday Adoption Center at 1101 S. Canal St. from 1-7 pm and get your cupcake/pet fix.
You know what’s even better than the sugary goodness of Cupcake Day? The sweet victory of a completed service learning project! If you are a Chicago High school student with a service learning requirement and a sweet tooth, then you are in luck; you can earn up to 10 service learning hours for participating in this year’s Cupcake Day event. Here’s how you do it:

- Visit cupcakeday.org to register for the main event
- Scroll through this blog to find printable posters to advertise your bake sale, as well as recipe ideas

- Be sure to take a few pictures of your cupcakes and sale set-up; you’ll need these later.
- Sell your delectable treats and collect donations
- Email email@example.com with any questions, and to set up an appointment to drop off your donations. Be sure to bring one of the flyers you used to advertise, a picture of your bake sale, a one-page reflection of your bake sale experience, your service learning tracking sheet, and of course your donations
- Don’t forget, you can also earn the Baking Buddy through Chicago City of Learning. If you have a CCOL account, you can get a badge code to redeem for your efforts!
Good luck and happy baking!

Your imagination is the limit!
No, you’re not imagining that sugary smell in the air. It is, in fact, the delicious aroma of cupcakes being baked and prepared for the return of Cupcake Day!
The Anti-Cruelty Society’s sweetest annual fundraiser is returning on October 17th, so now is the time to start planning the kinds of tasty treats that you want to make to support Chicago’s homeless animals. As always, we’re looking to recruit individual participants, groups, and business sponsors, so if you would like to participate in Cupcake Day (or know someone who would), now is the time!
To learn more about how to get involved in the event that puts the “fun” in “fundraiser,” please follow this link: http://cupcakeday.org/involved.html.
Try not to spoil your appetite in the meantime.

Are you gearing up to sell home-made treats on our behalf on February 16th?! If so – be sure to print up the official Cupcake Day 2015 poster by clicking on the above image to help get the word out about your mini event!
Note your name, the location of your sale, and the date and time you’ll be selling your goodies across the front. Then print up a batch and distribute them through your area. That way people will know where to go to snatch up one of your sugary concoctions to help support the Society!
