Dog-Friendly Cupcakes

We love our pets like family members. I hope I’m not just speaking for myself when I say I buy my dogs Christmas gifts, Starbucks puppuccinos and of course, celebrate their birthdays! My Anti-Cruelty alum has an adoptiversary coming up and she will most definitely getting some sort tasty homemade of treat.

So while you are making your cupcakes to sell for Cupcake Day, might as well make some cakes for your pup. Just make sure you don’t mix up your human treats with your dog treats, although, with these recipes they would probably taste just as good!

Fall for Cupcake Day

In my humble opinion, fall is the best time of the year. The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, Halloween is around the corner and of course fall fare! Fall foods are a staple of this glorious season, starting with your first pumpkin spice latte of the year.

Want to know another great thing about this autumn? Cupcake Day 2016! This year’s Cupcake Day falling on October 17th, just in time for the season. So bakers; break out the cinnamon and apple cider and get into fall mode for Cupcake Day!

Community Support: Thank You!

Samba the cat - dreaming of Cupcake Day Roxie can't wait for real cupcakes!

We are thrilled to have the support of local bakeries and companies that have a passion for helping Chicago’s animals most in need! Here is a roundup of our wonderful supporters thus far!

The famous Magnolia Bakery is going to support Cupcake Day by providing us with dozens and dozens of cupcakes to sell. The weekend leading up to Cupcake Day, February 14 and 15, you will be able to find Magnolia cupcakes to purchase at our PetSmart Charities ™ Everyday Adoption Center from noon to 5 p.m. 100% of the sales will go directly to the Society in order to help our four-legged friends!

Meanwhile, at our 510 N LaSalle adoption center, we will also be hosting a bake sale in which 100% of the sales go directly back to the Society. From noon to 5 p.m. on February 14 and 15, stop by our main location, visit with some cats and dogs, maybe adopt, and indulge in sweet homemade treats! High Hopes dog treats will be available for sale for our canine friends as well!

For a dog-friendly cupcake option, visit the Dog Barkery in Downers Grove! They are supporting the Society by giving us a portion of their proceeds from their February 16 sales.

We would also like to give Sweet Mandy B’s, located in Lincoln Park, a huge thank you for their kind donation of $250. That donation will help us do multiple procedures, provide vaccines, and provide lots of food, water, and care for our animals. Here is a breakdown of what your donation can do:

  • Every $25 raised provides food, water, and care for a cat for a day.
  • Every $50 raised helps vaccinate a shelter dog.
  • Every $100 raised will allow the Society to neuter one male kitty.
  • Every $225 raised will assist in a spay surgery for a female dog.

Lincoln Park’s favorite furniture store, West Elm, is also showing their support by having us set up shop and sell cupcakes at their location (North and Sheffield) from noon-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 15. Stop by to shop and to snatch up a cupcake donated by the wonderful Skinny Piggy bakery to eat for a good cause!

Groupon, 101.9 WTMX The Mix, Wolfbait and B Girls, and the folks from the Bake and Destroy blog have all shown great support for our big, sweet day. We are thankful to have so many great animal lovers and businesses on board to help spread our message!

Lastly, keep an eye out for us on WCIU’s You & Me This Morning on February 11 for a segment with more details about Cupcake Day! February 16 will be a day to remember!

Hello cupcake lovers! We are just over a month away from our third annual Cupcake Day taking place on Monday, February 16!

A popular way to participate is by rallying together your coworkers to get in on the baking fun! Lots of offices would have a great time with this sweet idea!

On Cupcake Day, sweet-tooths from around the city (or anywhere, really!) come together to bake and sell sweet treats from the location of their choosing. The choice of what kinds of goodie to bake, and where to sell them, is in the hands of the bakers who support The Anti-Cruelty Society. It’s really a simple concept in which people bake cupcakes and hold bake sales on our behalf. Bake, sell, and mail in the proceeds to help Chicago’s animals most in need!

The companies that have participated in the past have mentioned this as a fun, team-building, morale boosting activity for the office! If you have bakers on staff, they would especially like this idea! If you have a volunteer committee, or anything like that at your office, this may be of interest to them to organize! 🙂

Hope you and your coworkers can enjoy this fun day celebrating the love for treats and animals on February 16!
